What do you need to transcribe my file?

We need your video or audio file to have clear and good audio, in English.

To make sure you’ve got the best quality audio when you’re recording:

  • Minimise background noise
  • Keep all speakers close to the microphone
  • Avoid cross-talking and overlapping

How do I pay for my transcriptions?

We accept payment via all major credit cards.

Payment is pre-pay only at the time you place your order. Unfortunately, we cannot offer invoice.

How much will my transcription cost?

We charge $1 per minute of audio. 

There is no additional charge for multiple speakers. We round up all audio to the nearest whole minute.

How do I upload my files for transcription?

You can upload your files to our platform by either via:

  • Uploading a video or audio file directly from your computer, where each file must be less than 5 GB in size; or
  • Connecting to video or audio files already stored in Dropbox, Box, or Google Drive. In the order form, click Upload File then select the cloud service on the left.

Which file formats do you accept?

We accept most common digital audio and video formats, including MP3, AAC, WAV, MOV, AVI, MP4, VOB and many more.

What other details can I provide to help with the accuracy of my transcript?

You can give us names, words, or spellings that are relevant for your file. You can add this detail in the online order form when you upload your file.

How do I reduce my file size if required?

We can only accept audio and video files up to 5 GB in size.

You can usually find free software online to do this (just be careful which sites you select). Search “Free software convert [your file type] to [MP4]” in a search engine of your choosing.

We recommend converting your video into an MP4 at 640×480 resolution using the H.264 format.

Can I get my order faster?

Yes! Express delivery can be added to your order after files are uploaded, for an additional  $1 per audio minute.

How long will my transcription take?

From the moment you send us your files, we get to work. Our global team works 24/7 to make sure that you receive your files back as soon as we can.

Our delivery time depends on the number of files you are requesting to be transcribed, and the length of the audio or video files.

The below table sets out estimates for delivery based on file length.  If you order Express Delivery, we will deliver the file within the estimated time frame.

What happens if my audio quality is too poor to transcribe?

If the audio quality of your file is too low, we may be unable to transcribe it. In this case, we will notify you and if we can’t get a better-quality file from you, we will offer reimbursement for your order of that particular file.

Why isn't my URL accepted when placing an order?

The URL must be public and point to a media file. A URL linking to media embedded in a webpage, e.g. YouTube, will not work here.

Who will transcribe my file?

We have a global team of professional transcriptionists.

In what format will I receive the completed transcription?

We send your transcripts as a Microsoft Word document. Registered users may also access transcripts via our online customer portal, where files can be download in Microsoft Word, Plain Text, and PDF.

Do you offer transcription services in other languages?

At this stage, we only offer transcription in English. However, we are working on adding more languages soon, so watch this space!

Do you provide timestamps?

No. Currently, we offer plain-text transcripts which include speaker identification and all spoken content.

Can you transcribe multi-speaker files?

Yes, we can transcribe multi-speaker files. We will use “>>” to indicate a new speaker.
